The net is tightening around narcotics traffickers, with five suspects now cooling their heels in police cells after authorities intercepted consignments of cannabis sativa in separate operations in Mombasa, Kitengela and Busia.
At the Coast, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), acting on intelligence, intercepted a lorry registration number KDL 220P.
A search of the vehicle uncovered nine sacks of cannabis sativa weighing a total of 450 kilograms with an estimated street value of Sh12,150,000 in the streets.
The driver, Emmanuel Ndoro, and his accomplice, Paul Ogolla, were arrested on the spot.
In Kitengela, detectives conducted a raid at Honey Pot Bar, where they recovered two bales of cannabis sativa, 16 rolls of bhang and a clear polythene zip-lock bag containing cannabis sativa. The suspect, Catherine Nzuki, was arrested and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, in Busia County, police officers mounted an ambush at Butula Mission area and patiently waited for their target.
Their operation paid off when they flagged down a motor vehicle registration number KBR 254P.

The occupants, Ibrahim Oduor Otieno and Alma Nzimi Muiya, were immediately arrested and escorted to Busia Police Station together with the recovered exhibits.
All five suspects remain in custody and are undergoing processing pending their arraignment. Meanwhile, the impounded vehicle and recovered narcotics are being detained as exhibits.
The crackdown continues as law enforcement agencies turn up the heat on drug traffickers, determined to curb the menace of narcotics trafficking in our communities.
