Former radio Citizen Head of station and presenter Jeridah Andayi has opened up about the harsh reality of raising children alone in the United States after relocating from Kenya.
Said single parenting in America is emotionally draining and financially demanding.
According to her, life in the US is heavily structured around two-parent households where responsibilities are shared.
She explained that many single parents are forced to balance childcare, full-time jobs, cooking, and house chores alone.
Andayi also pointed to the high cost of domestic help and daycare services compared to Kenya, where affordable house helps are more common.
She noted that many parents spend their days dropping children at school or daycare, rushing to work, then returning home exhausted to continue parenting duties without assistance.
