Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has criticised reports suggesting Kenya could host United States Ebola patients in a designated isolation facility, describing the proposal as potentially risky and raising concerns about public perception.
In a passionate online reaction, the outspoken legislator questioned the country’s readiness to handle a disease long associated with deadly outbreaks in parts of Central Africa.
“Ati mlete Ebola Kenya? You have lost your mind… unataka kuua Wakenya kwa sababu ya pesa?” he said.
Salasya argued that many Kenyans have grown up viewing Ebola as a distant but highly feared illness linked mainly to outbreaks in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
